Yesterday was action packed. Actually, yesterday afternoon and evening were action packed - and boy, I saw a lot of action.
Lots of fibery action, that is.
Bookish Wendy invited Boston area bloggers that she had met over to her home yesterday for a "Taste of Yarn". The idea was that we'd all bring a dish we thought of as comfort food and a ball of yarn for everyone to swatch with. The yarn could be something we'd always wanted to try but never had, something that we already knew we loved, or if you're Maryse, you bring that ball of yarn most likely to knit up into a mangy dog.
The bloggers decended on Wendy's house at about 3pm, and for the most part, allowing for driving in Boston and rainy weather, everyone was quite punctual.
Here are a few pictures of most of the ladies that were here yesterday. We have Kellee, Jackie, Melanie, and Colleen.
We also have these other fine ladies - Kris, Maryse (the back of her, she doesn't love having photos taken so much), Ben, Kerstin, and Alison.
There were a few other people there that I didn't get on camera - Keiko (who was sitting behind me and propping me up with pillows - thanks K), Debbie and Amy. We were very sad that Julia couldn't make it (you can read her post about it here) but we managed to soldier on, like good little knitters.
The crack might have helped.
Of course I'm talking about fiber, you sillies. There was lots and lots and lots of fiber. Kellee brought her wheel (thanks, Kellee - I didn't even play with it last night, and I am already looking for wheels on eBay) and there were lots of drop spindles around to tempt us all with. Not that we really needed much tempting.
Look here:
Oh yeah folks, this was a really great day.
No one was surprised that Wendy was such a wonderful hostess, and there were a few of us who stayed quite late into the evening.
Oh, we also learned that Wendy's cat Futureman is something of a slut.
*I kid, I kid - Wendy would have invited everyone in Boston who has ever picked up knitting needles if she thought she could fit them in her house. Unfortunately, since her house isn't the size of Fenway Park, she had to limit the event to bloggers she's actually met, since, well, she was inviting us all into her home. The Knitterati thing? I just think it sounds funny.
Holy crap... if there was ever a time I wanted to live in Boston, this would be it. Didn't you get your specialty yarn at MD Sheep & Wool? Where is the pic of you with the spinning wheel? :)
I might have to copy this idea for the metro DC knitters... but my house is not that big...
Thanks for sharing the great photos, E!
xoxo

hugs from dreary lonely newburyport, hours and hours away in the rain, but knitting in spirit, and happy after all. Next one, I SWEAR!

it was so much fun to see you again, even though it felt like i did not even have time to actually say hi!

It was so lovely to finally meet you, especially given the number of times back in February a conversation at my house started with "And today Elisa says...". And Kerstin is right, the braces ARE cute.
