Phew - what a weekend.
It started out with a wonderful Fake Saturday and then moved into an even better real Saturday.
I picked this chickadee up at 9am on Saturday, and we made our way to Portsmouth. We had absolutely gorgeous weather, and miraculously, we didn't hit any traffic. No, I don't know how it happened either, but the traffic gods were smiling upon us. Although, even if we had hit traffic, I am not sure I would have noticed it. Jackie and I started talking at 9am and I don't think we stopped for the rest of the day. It was awesome.
Jackie and I arrived in Portsmouth about 15 minutes ahead of Maryse, which gave us just enough time to swing by The Yarn Basket (just for looking that time, though - not for buying).
Once we met up with Maryse, we went back to The Yarn Basket and I did a little of the buying. Just a little. See?
That's two skeins of Artyarns Supermerino in Color 108, the summer IK (I gave my copy to a friend), Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road, and two patterns from Fiber Trends: their Felted Clog pattern and their Peak Experience Socks pattern.
I also picked up the most wonderful, awesome, exciting, miraculous, spectacular and just plain spiffy dpn point protectors ever. No. Really. EVER. Get thee to your yarn shop. Ask if they have the leather point protectors made by Yarn Craft. Demand to see these babies if they do. Hold them in your hands and understand that you will Never be Fearful of Dropping A Stitch Off of Your DPNs Ever Again. Yo.
Okay, after Maryse, Jackie, and I stumbled out of The Yarn Basket, we toodled off to the Friendly Toast where we met up with Mrs. Bookish and had a great lunch that involved a waiter with more whiskers than Ashley from the movie version of Gone With the Wind, 4 mimosas, 3 beers and some very entertaining conversation.
After the lunching came the hair cutting, and we made our way to the salon with only one brief stop by an open house (discussions about where the fiber room would go and why I don't just live at Maryse's house ensued). Once at the salon, we did what seemed natural. We got our hair cut and we knit.

The only sad part of the salon experience was that Wendy couldn't stay to see everyone's haircuts through to the end.
After we left the salon, we went back to The Yarn Basket because Jackie wanted to pick up a few things. Now, we got out of the salon at 5:22pm and the yarn shop closed at 5:30pm. The distance between the two locations is a good half mile, maybe a little more. We made our feet go fast and when we turned the corner onto Ladd Street, we saw the lovely shopkeeper taking down the flag in front of the store. Y'know what happened? Lovely Jackie went sprinting down the street and managed to skid into the shop in time to purchase a few lovely skeins of goodness. It was hilarious. Literally, I couldn't get my camera out quickly enough to document it.
After the Mad Yarn Dash we went for an iced coffee (it was really freaking hot, people) and then Maryse had to stop hanging out with us (her boyfriend, that's who we are) and head toward home, so Jackie and I drove back into Boston for a terrific dinner.
Sunday was pretty uneventful until we went to Chez Bookish* for margaritas, bbq, and good times. I did snap a few pictures around the house:
My Fake Saturday flowers
I also want to share a little story with you. On Saturday night I fell asleep on the couch, and when I awoke I knocked over a water glass. On Sunday morning Mike's cell phone rang and startled me, and I knocked over my coffee cup rather spectacularly. When Mike asked, after the coffee had been cleaned up, if he could do anything to help, I responded that the only thing I really needed was another cup of coffee. After kindly offering to get said cup of coffee for me, he returned with the coffee in this container: my "sippy" cup. Ain't love grand?
Oh, and didn't we already talk about this?
For those of you who think that that Future Man is your kitty boyfriend, well, I had a little heart to heart with him this weekend, and let's just say this: He loves me. Not you. Me.
I just bought the Peak Experience sock pattern too, it was too cute to refuse. And ew to the last, badly worn thong picture...
