Or I'm just really, really, really committed to my denial. Remember that gin is not my friend? Well, red wine is not my friend either. Now - on the one hand, drinking a bottle and a half of wine all by yourself the night before a trip to NYC is decidedly not the brightest thing one could do. On the other hand, I was asleep by 8:30pm, which means I got way more sleep than my girls did. So - you decide: good decision or bad?
Anyway, Cara has a terrific post recapping our fabulous day, and I've got some picture evidence. I apologize in advance that I stopped taking pictures after visited habu, but a few pictures is better then none, right?
This is Wendy. At 5:30 in the morning. We heart Wendy.
Here we have Kellee and Wendy sitting in some wicked cool (and cold) spine chairs at Macy's. We had us some fun at Macy's. Some "Oh My God These Crowds are Huge and These Tourists are Stupid, No, I'm Not a Tourist, But These Stupid People are Tourists and Wow, So This is Where the Santaland Diaries Story by David Sedaris Came From and Okay, Now We're Having Fun" type of fun.
When finally we made it to habu textiles (our first yarn store of the day),
Kellee had no problem getting into the spirit of things. Neither did I (that's my stash on the right - 1600 yards of beautiful natural wool plus 400 yards of a brown laceweight for a whopping total of $32.00. habu might have some expensive stuff, but there are some DEALS to be had, people - DEALS)
And that's really where the picture taking ends. I do have a couple more stash pictures for you though...
This is my habu wool, plus two skeins of KPPPM from purl, and the one skein of Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn that I purchased from Seaport Yarn. There is word on the street that I buried myself in Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn and maybe got a little crazy there. You'll have to ask Wendy about that. If there's a photo - she's got it.
It was an amazing day. Cara was a perfect hostess, and having dinner at Gigino's was really the perfect way to end our time in NYC. As I sat at the table, listening to Kellee, Wendy, Kay, and Cara talk, I realized how very lucky I am to be part of this amazing community. If someone just overheard our conversation, they would never know that we met through knitblogging, and that we hadn't been real life friends for ages. Thanks girls - for reminding me what a privilege it is to be part of this community. *mwah!*
sorry I missed this --- sounds great!

let's see ... the sleep issue. my experience is that the alcohol will let me fall asleep instantly, but i won't stay asleep. sometime, in the wee hours, i'll wake up. i think alcohol can be a stimulant. it does affect sleep, and not in a positive way, at least not for me.
now, the YARN! oooooh, i love cherrytree hill :) sounds like it was a very fun trip to the city.
